Who Joins ACC?

Counselors working from a wide range of professional perspectives that value creative, expressive, and complementary therapies are invited to join.  Our members include mental health and community agency counselors, private practitioners, counselor educators, school counselors, students, retired counselors, and professionals new to the counseling field.  Some of our members also hold licensure/certification in the creative arts including art therapists, music therapists, play therapists, and dance therapists, or other advanced specialties in creative and complementary therapies such as Neurofeedback, EMDR, hypnosis, and TFT, to name a few.

How to Join ACC

All ACC members are required to hold membership in ACA first.  To add us to your membership,  log into your account at www.counseling.org and then add us as a Division. If you have any questions, please contact ACA member services at: ACA: (800) 347-6647, extension 222. You may also contact Julia Porter, our membership chair.

Besides the benefits of ACA membership, ACC provides members with:

  • Opportunities to join or start an ACC interest network! For more information, please contact Jacqueline Swank at  jswank@coe.ufl.edu

     
  • Grant Opportunities for ACC members!  Please contact Laura Bruneau at lbruneau@adams.edu for more information on the 2010-2011 grant process.  Application proposals are due November 30, 2010. 
  • Participation at member rates for ACC training events and creativity conferences.  ACC held its last conference in Portland, Oregon on September 18 & 19, 2010. 
  • Meetings and social events at the ACA Annual Convention, providing members with opportunities for networking, creating professional connections, and leadership involvement.
  • The Journal of Creativity in Mental Health, a scholarly journal, published quarterly, that gives voice to creative and relational-cultural expressions in counseling and psychotherapy.
  • The ACC Newsletter, an annual publication which highlights activities, workshops, conferences, publications, and other relevant information for ACC members, is seeking news and information  for its next issue.   Please contact Nikki Freeburg at mfreeburg@bridgew.edu for more information.
